seeing as you have one maybe you could anwser some questions for me. Do you know how much it costs to convert your word doc onto the kindle? How do you pay for the bill does it go on to a credit card?

So kindle is more for reading heavy books and easy access newspapers with glare. Amazon should have made it more customizable so that you can ad to it the pdf-files you already have directly from a PC. I don’t think the scrolling is possible with the “etch-a-sketch” technology, nether good color or touch screen. Is it good in displaying math symbols and formulas?

was my first Kindle download and it wasn’t too bad for a sci-fi novel.

It is capable, but they must be converted into another format which the Kindle reads, and I think Amazon offers a converter on their web site.

I don’t care about buying books when there’s no wifi connection, the dictionary and the quality of the screen are what matter most. What do you all like most?

kindle is only the future for fiction books….academic books will never move to the kindle..they can convert them to kindle but it won’t sell.

Kindle doesn’t foster a study environment, it’s made for story books that you can cosy up reading on your bed, or somewhere thats comfortable for you.

You get a kindle specific e-mail when you buy a device and you can e-mail a .doc or .pdf file to that address. The formatting is not always perfect but I have had no problems reading either format.

Even with all the flaws, this is easily the best device of its kind on the market. I want one so bad! From what I hear, a 2nd generation one is on its way, so I might wait a bit.

  16. ItsTylerMarie December 31, 2008 2:17 am

those things are so cool! I love to read and that would be great for me :)

  17. maplefeafsfan January 7, 2009 4:29 am

who could tell me that what kind of device is best dictionary for teen?

  18. SlikkTim January 14, 2009 10:42 pm

No 2nd generation, this was a false info made up by concurence to harm Amazon’s business ;)

  19. green11420 January 15, 2009 12:52 am

Well there are still flaws that I KNOW they can fix, so I’ll still wait on it. I don’t want to spend that much money on an imperfect product. Not to say there is any one device that is perfect, but the flaws that I hear about it seem legitimate, and shouldn’t have been there in the first place.

  20. SlikkTim January 15, 2009 1:03 am

sure. Anyway 350 bucks plus 10 bucks per book is still super steep to me…
