While i phone would be more convenient it wouldn’t even come close to a pleasurable reading experience

  3. tommytwin24 January 12, 2009 11:16 pm

    oh, and DRM SUCKS!

Stop stop stop. How are you going to buy and download one of the latest New York Times best sellers to your iPhone? You can’t. So please quit comparing the Kindle to your little toy phone.

A poor, poor review… You’re comparing incomparable devices knowing nothing about e-readers actually!

  6. pmhauge February 7, 2009 4:20 am

Worst review of a product. Ever.

This review is the rough equivalent of someone talking about how much motorcycles suck when you can just use a car instead. I mean, just look at all the other things you can do with a car over a motorcycle! I can read books on my phone, therefore the Kindle is lame… I might as well throw out my TV as well, considering I can also watch movies on a phone.

for the same money, space, and weight, you may as well buy a netbook. Now if only they come up with a better screen for the netbooks

  10. thelegendarypaki February 15, 2009 3:17 am

Simply get a netbook with wireless cards for ~$30-40/month. (or get a data plan with your phone service) and view the web anywhere in color! You can also find e books in .pdf format.

kindle is made for readers, the screen is good for the eyes, of course that’s why the price is high, but the Idea of ebooks took place in the recent years, I which google create (gbook) and make it like Iphone and support all languages !

Duh… we know that. However, on kindle there is NO monthly fee. The basic web access is free.

  13. thelegendarypaki February 15, 2009 7:40 am

To be honest the “web browsing” experience might be very limited on the kindle because it is text only (or black and white pictures). I see it as very limiting if you are into “merging” devices. And as far as free service goes- I don’t see why anyone with a data plan on their phone would buy this. Even if you don’t have the service simply find a hotspot. Obviously this gadget is overrated and overpriced and Amazon makes great money on it( not that it is wrong, I just think it should be cheaper)

  14. evilthought February 15, 2009 7:47 am

Whether the web browsing experience is limited or not, it’s FREE. I don’t visit wikipedia to see pictures. I visit it to look up something. People who have kindle can do it free, from anywhere without the need for wifi access or paying any monthly fee. That alone is worth $300. Not to mention it’s easier to read on kindle, with no back lighting, and the battery doesn’t need recharging even after weeks of use.

Lol i happened to get one of these on my birthday, and its an ok device. Its pretty cool, considering i could go on the web(wikipedia ETC.), read books/magazines/blogs, and listen to music. But i also bought an ipod touch right after i got the kindle. Im happy though, considering i have them both. But their both made for different things.

Last time I checked.. novels were NOT in color. The Kindle isn’t intended for someone stupid like yourself that limits their literary competency to fucking comic books lmfao

why did he have to speak forever at first?

  18. Entropy56 February 20, 2009 10:30 am

Until YouTube is on the Kindle… I could then watch hot Asian babes get oil massages anywhere.

However, if this is a review, it is a bit biased. You’re saying that you don’t like e-books, which makes it obvious that you are going to give it a bad review. Remember, I still respect your comparison argument.

I’m not sure if this is a review on the kindle, or a comparison of it between and iPod Touch/iPhone. If it’s a comparison, then I agree, iPod touch/iPhone’s are probably better if you don’t want to be limited to books. But, if you’re only looking for books, then go for the kindle.

Kindle is a waste of money. Costs as much as 60 used hardback books and with Kindle you don’t own them! DRM, text to speech disabled, no outboard memory, proprietary files. Forget it!

  23. keitheboy1 March 3, 2009 2:54 am

you can if you have a kindle

you cant be serious, iphone for reading books? i have a vx6900 that also supports pdf but i recently bought a Sony Reader PRS-505 which is way easier to read, better battery and bigger screen. Plus with no backlight like your iphone i could read an ebook for hours with no eye strain.
