The Sony Reader has actually been out for over a year now. What was released 6 weeks prior to the Kindle was the second version, the PRS-505. The pictures you show here are actually off the older version, the PRS-500, which came out in late 2006.

They don’t want to help you read books more easily but rather make you pay them lots of money for what you get normally for free. All this business sucks! Seems better to wait for a reader enabling any kind of e-text reading with a free download feature.
How do u read papers n’ books 4 free now? Even when u take em’ out at a library- u are paying 4 staff & heat. If you steal em’, you’re just making it cost more 4 me. Point: nothing is free! Sorry, publishers will NOT allow a company to create an e-reader that will display their product using “with a free download feature”. Bright side: as devices like this become popular, digital print will become cheaper, the same way digital music is now cheaper. Suck it up. Get a job- pay for yer shite.
kdmc, you’ve misunderstood me. I’m not for illegal downloading or doing whatever against the law. I’m just saying it is not fair to be forced into paying for reading a book you can download for free, e.g. from Project Gutenberg. And this is why I claim that some things can be free. (Volunteers work for free too, if you didn’t know.) I have a job and pay for what I get, so stop making false accusations. But why put money into the pockets of the rich, you tell me?
